Dear Dave,

We are pleased with Trigger. We are very pleased with Trigger. We’ve been around dogs enough to recognize that Trigger is an exceptionally well-bred Springer. The little guy is so pleasant and so easy to train with tones of natural ability that we are already talking about getting another dog from you folks!

As you’ve said, breeding dogs is not an exact science. Pat and I have know this for some time. The proof of good breeding decisions is in the quality pups. Some folks will look at finished gundog and declare that dog to be worthy of passing along his genes, when what they may be seeing is the finished work of a trainer who overcame many poor qualities in his pupil to produce a good canine citizen. Top off citizen canine with some test rewards and all tribulations of early training are forgotten.

They look at the finished product and say, ” We should breed this dog.” For the betterment of the breed, they should say, “We should breed this dog’s trainer.” I degress…a dog trainer’s love life is none of my business and has nothing to do with this letter.

Back to Trigger….. His personality is great. He loves people and other dogs. He LISTENS (and he shows it) when people speak. He is bold. He has had a few sessions of chasing Dusty (3 year old springer) through weeds and light briars. He has a beautiful coat. He uses his nose ( he has tracked and retrieved pigeons already). He has a good build and very early natural instincs. I could go on.

We’ll keep in touch
